The need for a Polish church on the south side of the city of Edmonton was first noted at the beginning of 1987. Already two and a half years later, on November 5, 1989, the first holy mass was celebrated in the newly purchased church building. The Archbishop consecrated the beautifully renovated church under the invocation of Our Lady Queen of Poland on October 21, 1990.

In January of 1990 a nearby home was purchased for use as a presbytery. Subsequent years brought rapid spiritual growth and expansion of the newly created community. Activities start to bloom: catechization of children, music groups and choirs hum with activity; in time, prayer groups emerge. On October 2, 1996 the parish held the beautiful ceremony of the consecration of the newly installed bell, which now rings before each service to summon the faithful to mass.

December of 1998 marked the joyous occasion of the final payment on the mortgage of our church. Many renovations took place over the next several months both in the church and the downstairs rooms. The following year the presbytery was rebuilt in only 4 short months.
